Profile
UCE is a university full of character and diversity, and one of its greatest attributes is its friendly welcoming approach. Located in Birmingham , the UK ’s second city, it is a university of great variety housed in buildings from old and historic to modern and innovative. There are nine faculties: Birmingham Conservatoire (for Music); Birmingham Institute of Art & DesignBIAD (considered the best in the UK for jewellery); Built Environment (with origins in the 19 th Century); the Business School (which works with leading private and public organisations); Computing, Information & English (which uniquely combines the three academic schools); Education (allowing professionals to work from foundation level to PhD); Health & Community Care (with strong links to local health and social services); Law & Social Sciences (split into 3 departments of Law, Public Policy and Sociology); and the Technology & Innovation Centre (located in the 114 million pound Millennium Point building and offering a very wide range of Computer Technology, Multimedia and Engineering courses).

BIRMINGHAM INSITITUTE OF ART & DESIGN
One of the best institutions in the UK with a variety of Foundation, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree courses in areas such as Fashion Design, Product Design (Industrial, Medical, Furniture, Ceramics & Glass), Interior Design, Media & Communication, Surface Design, Visual Communication, Design Management and Visual Arts.

Location
You can fly to Birmingham Airport (thus missing the very busy London Airports!) from Thailand on connecting flights with Emirates, KLM and Swiss. Birmingham is a well-planned city with excellent transportation and it is a perfect centre for travel to elsewhere in the UK . Birmingham has three English Premiership football teams; Aston Villa, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion. Many international events and exhibitions are held at the nearby National Exhibition Centre (the “NEC”).

Facilities
Facilities at UCE include Information Services (8 libraries – check out the UCEEL, the new digital library), Computing and Computer networks.

Accommodation
Accommodation is available in five halls of residence, which are mostly self-catering. The cost of living is low, and Birmingham has one of the best and cheapest markets in the UK , with a very wide variety of Asian food, particularly Chinese.
